WOW, what a weekend for St. Louis and Suburban Radio Club! The weekend of April 8th saw our club get together and participate in multiple activities:

  • We were in support of the Egyptian Radio Club and the Extra class training sessions.
  • Multiple members got together for breakfast at our monthly Ham Radio Breakfast at Denny’s.
  • We got together in our old stomping grounds at the James S. McDonnell Park to have a mini Field Day. This allowed us to celebrate seventy years as a radio club.
  • SLSRC took delivery of a brand new tower trailer.
  • Finally, we wrapped things up using the special event station of KØA.

SLSRC is honored to have Don Wilbanks AE5DW as our guest presenter at the March meeting.

Don will be joining us via SKYPE from his home studio in Picayune, MS. The meeting is at March 24 at 7 PM in the Clinical Learning Institute, Goldfarb School of Nursing, rooms 419-420 of Missouri Baptist Hospital.

The February meeting of SLSRC will feature a program by Ron Elliott KDØSML on mobile APRS.

The presentation will be an overview of APRS mostly through the lens of APRSIS software which runs on the Windows platform, or using Wine on Linux.  It is also available for the Android platform.

SLSRC kicks off the year with it's monthly meeting on January 20th with the annual “Show and Tell” program.  This is where YOU get to give a brief presentation of any radio, antenna, etc. projects you have completed, or are working on.  It's also a great time to “show” off any new equipment you have, or your new modes of operation.

SLSRC was honored to have Jim Kramper, NØLSX, Warning Coordination Meteorologist as the presenter at it's November 18th meeting.  Mr. Kramper presented a review of the December 2015 heavy rain event, and look at potential changes in the National Weather Service down the road.
