An educational activity in the afternoon was a demonstration on how to build a 2-meter tape-measure beam antenna. Cliff, KCØSDV, provided the instruction, and 6 attendees left Field Day with tape-measure beam antennas of their very own.
Mother Nature gifted us with sunny weather, and temperatures in the 90s on Saturday afternoon. However, just as the Social Committee was preparing to begin dinner preparations, a storm rolled in which delayed dinner for a while, but thankfully also brought down the temperature.
Many hearty souls stayed overnight, and in the morning were served a great breakfast by Karen, KDØLGB. Following breakfast, operations continued until 12:00, when another possible weather front was moving in, and by 13.00 hours Field Day 2016 came to a close.
As always, Field Day represents not only preparation and training for emergency communications, but also a time for hams to “have an eye ball” and “rag chew” about their activities, both on and off the radio.
Hope to see you at Field Day 2017...June 24-25. Save the Date !!!
