President's Notes - December 2016

Another year for the St Louis and Suburban Radio Club is just about in the books. This has been the sixty-ninth year that this club has been around.  Many of us will be getting together this coming Friday, December 16th to celebrate the holiday season, and to enjoy each others company.  We will get to know each other just a little bit better on a personal level, and may even talk about amateur radio for a little while.

While this has been my first year as the President of this club, I have been around it for thirteen years.  I have also served on the board in the past as the VP under Jim Glasscock,(WØFF). I am very lucky that I have been the president during a time when we have good people, and good communicators in the hobby.  We have young and old alike, though not as many young as old.  I look forward to the upcoming year with new members on the board who will give their input as to where the club needs to be directing itself. We always need a solid combination of new ideas and historical viewpoints to be able to guide the club through its journey.

In the next couple of weeks, the elected board members will be getting together to discuss the current committees and their role in the club.  If you have any interest in getting more involved with the activities of the club, now is a good time to step forward and take on a committee.  We will be able to let new people take on the role of committee chairs, or remain as members with their current committee.  Let our board members know that you want to get involved.  You can just log onto the website at  (SLSRC.ORG), and send an email through the “Contact Us” link at the top of the page.  We will make sure the correct people know you have an interest.

I want to wish you all a happy holiday season, and I look forward to seeing what the SLSRC will be doing in the coming year.  Don’t forget about Winterfest 2017.  It is just around the corner.  I hope to see you all soon.
